Company background
Extra Hands provides home care workers in North Norfolk and employs around 150 staff. 

The problem
Their 3 administration offices required access to a SQL database in real-time with an ability to print locally

Our Solution
With a well-specified Central Server running the SQL Database at the main office, a Terminal Server was set up to provide access to the two Satellite offices.
In real-time, all staff could then work on the same database, share the same files and have access to a centralised email and scheduling system.

To aid the care workers a mobile phone system was configured to allow access to the database so that they could see where their next appointment was and to update details from their last visit.

In addition, a mapping system was linked into the database allowing admin staff to plan the most effective routes for their care workers to save time each day.

Many of the problems associated with these kind of distributed systems were solved, including a couple of undocumented solutions, such as using redirected printers in a way that works 100% of the time to any location.
